Couples

I define ‘couples’ as two adults in an intimate relationship. This includes co-habitating, pre-marital, married, and re-married, regardless of gender. As relationships continue, many couples find that they feel more like roommates rather than intimate partners. Many describe this as a feeling of ‘drifting apart’ from each other and want to know how to rekindle their feelings. It is possible that they have arguments that go on and on; that one, or both, within the couple have lost interest in the other, have had an emotional or physical affair, and may be considering separating or divorcing. Regardless, the outcome is a relationship that is lonely and unfulfilling.

I work from proven, therapeutic approaches including the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. These methods help couples onto a path to heal their relationship by building communication….how to ‘listen and hear’ each other, building a foundation of mutual appreciation, trust, and respect for one another, how to identify and build ‘shared dreams’ and how to better understand the behaviors and factors that cause stress within their relationship.
