Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – EMDR

According to the American Psychological Association, psychological trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event. Psychological trauma can lead to a wide variety of physical and emotional distress, such as fears, phobias, physical pain, anxiety, depression and even PTSD. EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) defines EMDR as a therapy that asks the client to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing side-to-side eye movement. This can result in a reduction in the emotional response associated with the trauma memories. This method has been extensively researched and proven to help those recover from PTSD symptoms.

I adhere strictly to the accepted EMDR protocol when working with clients on this method. This is an 8-phase method that guides the client though the technique.
