Grief is a unique experience that is a natural reaction to loss. No two people experience grief in the same way. The loss may be physical, relational, emotional/mental, or occupational. Physical loss may include serious health issues or damage to a home/car due to natural disaster or accident. A Relational loss may include death/divorce/estrangement of a loved one, death of a pet, children leaving home, or moving from a familiar location to an unfamiliar one. Emotional/Mental loss may include unfulfilled dreams, hopelessness, or a feeling of insecurity or uncertainty. Finally, Occupational loss includes feelings when caught up in a lay-off or firing, change of job role, or retirement.
Grief often makes people feel hopeless; unable to see the joys in life. A common adage is ‘time heals all wounds’, but many times tools that help us understand or deal with our grief are elusive. I can help you develop and effectively use those tools.
