Professional Care You Can Trust
I'm Here to Listen
My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychotherapeutic care. I treat a number of mental health challenges, and provide a safe environment for individuals, families, and couples, to explore pathways toward healing.
I work with clients to help them cope with their anxieties, as well as, grief and grief related issues, such as depression, stress, and PTSD.
I help clients explore and work toward removing barriers such to create open communication to help build trust, intimacy and respect.
I am trained in several trauma therapies and can help clients work to lessen the debilitating effects of upsetting experiences.
While my therapeutic style calls upon several well established and effective counseling approaches, my main focus is on interpersonal relationships. My passion is to guide my clients on a journey to discover inner strengths and to develop positive patterns of interaction. I am a professional counselor and a marriage and family therapist that loves working with families. All aspects of family life and members of the family (individuals, couples, single parents, entire families, and blended families) are of interest to me. I know that what affects one person in the family affects all members of the family.
I utilize a number of approaches to therapy, including mindfulness based work, the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Emotion Freedom Technique (EFT – Tapping). I also have extensive training in Discernment Counseling, Trauma Therapy and Grief work.
I worked as a counselor at Montgomery County Youth Services and then as a high school counselor for ten years. During that time, I led grief groups for adolescents and for adults in the area and started a private practice in the evenings. I have also worked in the oil and gas industry as a geologist and as a teacher at the high school and college graduate levels.
I live in a blended family and have been with my very funny and generous husband for over forty years. I have two adult children and two grandchildren who are the light of my life. When at home and in my spare time, my husband and I love to spend time cooking together, traveling, collecting rocks and minerals, and sitting on our patio watching the wildlife.
